Pronounced “buk-a-witts.” Don’t worry, no one gets it on the first try.
How did I get started making websites? Since sitting down with my dad to learn some of the basics as a young adolescent, my interest in web design has grown and expanded. I began by working on official websites for underground bands like The Insyderz, Squad Five-O and Johnny Respect, as the potential for promotion on the internet was emerging and these groups saw the need to make their music available. From there, I maintained a growing interest in web design by exploring the world of online communication through blogging both as a photographer and a writer.
It is my hands-on experience combined with an ability to quickly adapt to new web technologies that has kept my interest in web design sharp. Currently I hold a position as a regional web coordinator for a large non-profit organization. It is here that I have further advanced in a working knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Illustrator, XHTML and CSS.
I live in Chicago with my wife and our two wonderful kids. We try to inspire positive change around us, where we are, by making environmentally and socially creative choices with our resources and time. This has led to a shared interest in biking, composting, gardening, organic cooking, community and simple living. My wife and I often spend our evenings listening to Bonnie Prince Billy, Jose Gonzalez or Iron & Wine, though occassionally we’ll make an effort to spot the latest episode of Dexter on iTunes.
