Oxfam Microsite WordPress Coding

I recently had the opportunity to code a child theme based on provided Photoshop designs for an Australian Oxfam Microsite called “Grow”. Found at http://oxfam.org.au/grow/, this site utilized a number of custom widgets, jQuery and valid coding in order to springboard a new look and feel from the incredible and versatile Canvas WordPress theme.

This was a nearly immediate turnaround, taking only 2 days to complete the coding requirements on my end. The project was a pleasure to work on and the end result is a beautiful, informational and interactive site for Oxfam.

Elements involved in the development of Grow:

Custom child theme development, in order to allow for regular Canvas updates as developed by the WooThemes team, without the risk of altering any of the customizations
PHP, XHTML, CSS & jQuery coding
WooThemes option customization
Regular client communication and availability, despite the large time zone difference
Two-day turnaround

Singing Company Design & WP Theme

The Singing Company is a group of friends from the Chicagoland area that love to play music together. They’ve carefully crafted their own look and feel throughout the years, and I have been honored to have been apart of their branding and design throughout their growth. Remarkable Roads WordPress

Having known & admired Steve since starting out on websites at a very early age, I was extremely happy to be able to finally work on a project together. He and his wife Claire are currently traveling abroad, exploring the wonder and beauty of places like Santiago, Lima, Bogota and more. Yeah…I’m a bit jealous too.

This website serves as a place for them collect all of their tweets, photos, facebook updates and blog posts into one central location for them to keep in touch and share their experiences with their family, friends and fans.

For RemarkableRoads.com, I designed and coded a WordPress theme based off of a WooThemes premium theme that they had chosen.

This design and development included:

Burger Junkies WordPress Theme

As a fellow fan of burgers in general, I was happy to be apart of the launch of BurgerJunkies.com by assisting its website founder with PSD to WordPress development. Using the provided Burger Junkies designs, I customized a WooThemes WordPress theme both in aesthetics and in functionality in order to make use of custom post types, custom taxonomies, custom fields, jQuery sliders, widget customization and more. From the receipt of design files to final launch, this project was completed over the course of a few days.

Blue Buzzard Sales Landing Page

The team at Blue Buzzard approached me to assist with the design of a new landing page template that would act as a sell sheet for future clients. This needed to be customizable to include a variety of vendor logos, photo slideshows and content as needed. I happily delivered a one-page landing page with cross-browser compatible HTML and CSS that is both easy to navigate and attractive.

Shriners Hospitals Intranet

Another fun project to work on, this website is based in WordPress and features custom post sorting, enhanced ad management, automatic events sorting and posting, and much more. The front page features a rotating feature box that is updated solely through pulling data from blog posts. I was able to hand this off to the client with all aspects of the content completely customizable on their end.

Upcoming Events Poster

This poster was envisioned as a throwback to the striking, bold designs of yesteryear. Created to be an 11×17 print for display in community centers and on bedroom walls, the design needed to be striking as well as clearly understood, while attracting the eye of the target audience – teenagers and young adults. The poster helps to promote upcoming events for this Chicago-based Salvation Army youth ministry, while retaining the key elements of their current theme – “heart, soul, mind, strength.”

This was framed with a 1/4 white border around the image and printed 4/0 on 11×17.
